Sofia Ramirez – Markets & Regulation Editor

Sofia Ramirez

I’m Sofia Ramirez, and I cover the intersection of crypto, policy, and global markets. Born and raised in Miami, I earned my degree in International Relations from Georgetown University, where I focused on financial regulation and monetary policy. My Cuban-American background gave me a front-row seat to watching how cryptocurrency provides financial access in countries with unstable currencies—a reality that shaped my entire career.

I started my journalism career at Bloomberg, covering Latin American markets and gradually shifting toward digital assets as the region became a hotbed for crypto adoption. From 2019 to 2022, I reported on regulatory developments across the Americas, interviewing central bankers, lawmakers, and Bitcoin advocates from Argentina to El Salvador. I was in San Salvador when Bitcoin became legal tender, and I’ve covered SEC enforcement actions from the press gallery in Washington.

My expertise lies in understanding how regulation shapes markets and how global macro trends impact crypto prices. I track institutional adoption, analyze regulatory frameworks across different jurisdictions, and monitor how traditional finance intersects with digital assets. I also cover trading trends, market psychology, and the movement of capital between crypto and traditional markets.

At BoostUp Crypto, I bring context to the chaos. Every price movement has a story, and every regulatory decision has consequences. I believe understanding the “why” behind market moves is just as important as tracking the numbers. Outside of work, I’m an amateur salsa dancer and a passionate advocate for financial literacy in underserved communities.
